Monitoring hazardous chemicals and developing the methods for analyzing them
We monitor hazardous chemicals in the air, water and soil in order to survey environmental pollution and develop the methods for detecting hazardous chemicals. We also monitor dioxins in the breast milk and fat tissues of humans.
Taking coutermeasures against environmentally hazardous chemicals
We conduct study on the elucidation of polluting meachanisms and the validation of countermeasures against the pollutants. We also inform our residents of the sources of those pollutants.

Researches on the construction of the treatment systems of ‚o‚b‚a contaminated wastes
We monitor hazardous chemical pollutants in and around industrial waste landfills and develop the management systems for those landfills.
Water Environment Division
Monitoring the quality of river and sea water and its sediments and researching the methods for the total river management
We monitor the river/sea water and its sediments to preserve our water environment and are conducting researches on how to keep clean a river from its watershed to estuary. We are developing the methods for evaluating the river water quality by studying the habitats of the benthic organisms. We also support environment education.
Monitoring industrial effluents and reducing nutrients emission
We conduct survey on heavy metals such as cadmium in industrial effluents and offer the guidance for the countermeasures against them. We also offer the guidance for reducing the nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus to prevent the eutrohy.
Monitoring the quality of tap water
We study how noise and vibration propagate and affect our lives around factories and the specified areas such as Kansai International Airport, Route 43 and so on. We also study how to predict noise and vibration and how to prevent them.
Analysis and preservation of hot spring resources
We analyze the quality of hot springs in Hyogo. We also monitor the natural flow of hot springs to prevent the draining-up of hot spring resources.
Atmospheric Environment Division
Research on local air pollution
We measure the levels of asbestos, nitrogen oxides and heavy metals in the atomosphere and inspect facilities discharging smoke. We also conducted researches into the growth mechanisms of secondary pollutants such as photochemical smog and fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) discharged from diesel engines. We analyze the component of offensive odor, its growth mechanisms and develope the method for evaluating the odor.
Researches on global air pollution
We monitor acid rain and fog and carry out researches into their influence on our environment by using plants such as moss as indicators. We also monitor greenhouse gases discharged from factories on long term basis.
Researches on noise and vibration pollution
We study how noise and vibration propagate and affect our lives around factories and the specified areas such as Kansai International Airport, Route 43 and so on. We also study how to predict noise and vibration and how to prevent them.
Researches on radioactivity
We measure radioactivity in vegitables, milk and soil and monitor natural radioactivity in the atmosphere.
